It’s official - your Spotlight weekend is almost here!

Your schedule and Teacher Packet are ready, which means it's time to see how your competition weekend comes together.

Your studio-specific information can be found in your Dance Comp Genie account. Take some time to review everything carefully, then share the information your teachers and families need to arrive prepared.

YOUR TEACHER PACKET IS YOUR STUDIO’S EVENT GUIDE

Remember: City Page = My Event. DCG = My Studio.

Information specific to your studio and registration.

Now, DCG becomes especially important.

Your Teacher Packet and schedule are studio-specific, so this is where you'll find the details created for your team.

Under Spotlight's current process, the Teacher Packet includes information such as the event schedule, venue information, routine numbers, and your Studio Code.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: REVIEW YOUR SCHEDULE

Give it a complete read before you send it out.

We know what happens when a competition schedule arrives:

Download → Screenshot → Send to teachers → Send to parents.

But give yourself a few minutes first.

Before distributing anything, review the schedule from the studio's perspective.

Look at:

YOUR ROUTINES
Are all of the routines you're expecting represented?

YOUR PERFORMANCE TIMES
Get familiar with when your dancers are scheduled to perform.

YOUR AWARDS CEREMONIES
Know which awards ceremonies apply to your dancers and when they're scheduled.

YOUR STUDIO FLOW
Look at the weekend as a whole. When are your busiest stretches? When do teachers need to be in multiple places? Where will your team need to be especially organized?

WHY DOES MY SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE THIS?

Every Spotlight schedule is built for that specific event.

Spotlight does not use one predetermined schedule for every competition.

Our team builds each schedule based on the unique registration for that city - including the number and types of routines attending.

That means one Spotlight weekend may look different from another.

Your schedule is built around your event.

CHECK YOUR ROUTINE NUMBERS

Your routine numbers matter all weekend.

Your Teacher Packet contains the routine numbers assigned to your studio.

Take a moment to make sure your teachers have access to them.

Spotlight Tip: Keep a digital copy of your Teacher Packet somewhere your competition staff can access quickly throughout the weekend.

ABOUT ARRIVAL TIMES

Plan ahead for arrival.

Once you have your schedule, work backward from your performance times and communicate your studio's arrival expectations clearly with your dancers and families.

Your event-specific communications and Teacher Packet should always be your guide for any official timing instructions. Reminder Spotlight can run up to an hour ahead, be sure to have the Spotlight Event App to stay up to date!

WHAT IF SOMETHING DOESN’T LOOK RIGHT?

If you review your Teacher Packet or schedule and something about your studio's information doesn't look the way you expected, contact our Client Engagement Services team.

Can the schedule change?

Your Teacher Packet contains the schedule prepared for your event. Because competition schedules involve hundreds of interconnected routines, dancers, studios, awards, and event logistics, studios should plan around the published schedule.

If an event-specific update is necessary, Spotlight will communicate important information to participating studios. ((THIS NEEDS REVIEWED BY CES FOR DEETS!))
