Your event is getting closer. Let’s get your music ready.

Registration is wrapping up, and we're officially entering the final stretch before your Spotlight weekend.

This week, there’s one important item we want you to get ahead of:

Your music.

Take a few minutes to log in to Dance Comp Genie, review your routines, and make sure your music is uploaded and ready to go.

YOUR MUSIC CHECK

One less thing to worry about on competition weekend.

All routine music must be uploaded through the online registration portal. Under the current Spotlight procedure, music is due by 11:59 PM MST on the Monday before the Regional event.

But don't wait for the deadline if your music is ready now.

For every routine, confirm:

✓ The correct music file is uploaded
✓ The music matches the correct routine
✓ The complete track plays correctly
✓ Your final edited version is the version uploaded

DON'T JUST SEE THE FILE, LISTEN TO IT

Give every track one final listen.

Seeing a filename in DCG doesn't necessarily mean you're finished.

Before you call your music complete, open the actual file and listen through it.

Is it the right song?
Is it the final cut?
Does it start where you expect?
Does it play all the way through?

That two-minute check can prevent a much more stressful moment backstage.

Spotlight Tip: If someone other than the Studio Director manages music for your studio, send them this page and have them complete the music check with you.

YES, YOU STILL NEED A BACKUP

Uploaded online? Great. Now prepare your USB.

Under Spotlight's current music procedures, studios are also required to bring a backup USB flash drive containing their music and submit it at Studio Check-In. Spotlight also recommends keeping an additional backup on another device in case of technical issues.

Competition-weekend rule of thumb: your music should never exist in only one place.

CLOSING WEEK IS HERE!

While you're in DCG, give everything one last look.

Your event's Closing Date is an important milestone.

Once registration closes, our team uses the final registration information to build a schedule specific to your event. Spotlight doesn't use one standard schedule template because each city's routine count and registration makeup are different.

So while you're already logged in for music, take one final look at your registration.

Are your dancers correct?
Are your routine names correct?
Are your categories and divisions correct?
Is your account where you expect it to be?

Accurate information now helps us build an accurate event later.

For studios qualifying for the 2027 Savings Rate, the Closing Date is the final payment deadline to retain that rate. Payments after the Closing Date move to Regular Registration pricing.

Your exact Closing Date varies by event, so refer to your event information for the date that applies to your studio.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES?

This is where your event starts taking shape

Once registration closes, our event team can begin working from the final picture of who's attending and what they're bringing.

That information is used to create the schedule for your specific Spotlight event. Spotlight's current rules explain that schedules are built around each city's unique routine count and type rather than a predetermined general schedule.
